Anouar Brahem

Voll wars in der Aula der Uni Mannheim am Sonntag nachmittag. Und ein wunderbares Konzert. Brahem spielte die Oud sehr beseelt, gewissermaßen »mit verhaltenem Feuer unterm Arsch«. Das Publikum war begeistert und quittierte den Auftritt mit herzlichem Applaus.

Ungewöhnlich die Besetzung: Darbouka (Khaled Yssine), Bass (Björn Meyer), Oud (Brahem), Bassklarinette (Klaus Gesing). Es entstand eine sanft, aber nachhaltig groovende Musik mit hypnotischen Qualitäten. Auch dies ein gelungener interkultureller Brückenschlag: die beiden Europäer fügten sich nahtlos ins sparsame Konzept und fühlten sich im harmonischen und rhythmischen Universum des Tunesiers sicht- und hörbar wohl.

(Nur falls jemand nicht weiß, was eine Darbouka ist. Könnte ja sein.)

In der gleichen Besetzung ist auch die aktuelle CD von Anouar Brahem aufgenommen, »The Astounding Eyes Of Rita«, benannt nach einem Gedicht des palästinensischen Dichters Mahmoud Darwish, der letztes Jahr verstarb:
